Occupational Health and Safety Legal Compliance Audits
We are accredited SAI OHS auditors. We perform safety compliance audits for all of your risk management needs from the retention of self-insurance status to Corporate Governance functions.
We identify your organisation’s risks and OHS legal obligations and rate your compliance. In each area of risk we analyse:
- The compliance effectiveness of your existing systems, methods and practices
- The extent of workforce knowledge and engagement
- Where your organization is clearly successful
- Gaps in your process and the risks they pose to your organization.
The Outcome is a clear report and practical implementation strategy with defined steps and priorities for your organization with OHS Improvement Strategies and Programs.

Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control Advisory Services
It’s important to protect your workforce and organisation from “unforeseen” risk especially when the risks are in fact already widely recognised. We have a proven, time-effective, and comprehensive identification process that targets foreseeable risk and is outcome focused. Our process enables organisations to collaborate with their workforce and stakeholders to develop problem-solving and teamwork capabilities at all levels of the organisation. Distilling out the priority issues, this essential duty-of-care process documents what is to be done and provides a sound basis for risk control budgeting. This action-orientated process has helped many teams and organisations to engage their people, significantly reduce occupational risks, improve their safety culture, and overall OHS performance.
Electromagnetic radiation measurement risk assessment and mitigation
The systems we now use for generating and distributing electrical power and telecommunications signals bring with them invisible electrical and magnetic fields that permeate our modern work and living environments. Prolonged exposure is now assessed as a possible human carcinogen and given the very large number of people exposed may pose a cancer risk population that is far greater than those afflicted by exposure to asbestos.
The electrical industry now formally accepts the philosophy of prudent avoidance. We have helped many organisations to get all the benefits of electricity and mobile telecommunications whilst also applying prudent avoidance strategies to minimise occupational risks.
To avoid costly property and equipment investment mistakes, electromagnetic field surveys are increasingly part of due diligence to identify affected areas in buildings where some electronic equipment won’t work reliably and people cannot be safely located. Such surveys are inexpensive and useful for both new sites and existing facilities. It is now possible to precisely pinpoint areas of risk, implement corrective measures, or reuse space to cheaply apply prudent avoidance. We can apply a range of low field engineering design methods and shields at reasonable cost.
OHS Training and Injury Prevention Programs - Ergonomic and Functional Work Systems
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most common workplace lost-time injury taking a median four weeks to return to work and costing an average of $9,000 per case. Musculoskeletal injuries often occur when employees slip, trip, fall, strain, stress, or overload the musculoskeletal structure. Commonly referred to as Manual Handling Injuries, they encompass a wide range of tasks and compensable conditions, injuries and diseases.
With an aging workforce, this all too common and painful disabling of injury isn’t going to diminish in Australia unless we make some intelligent changes.
Our occupational injury prevention programs are tailored specifically to your workplace. We examine your musculoskeletal disorder injury rate and develop a program that reduces occupational risk from highest to lowest incidence rate. We use a collaborative approach that combines practical insights from physiology, human movement, ergonomics, risk assessment, and heightened mindfulness to initiate changes in the workplace and the way people understand themselves. Risks are diminished and people rediscover living in a pain free mobile body.
Our associates are Comcare and Worksafe accredited Trainers for Health and Safety Representative Programs.
Hazard Operability Studies aids Design and Safety in Procurement, Technology Transfer and Process Upgrades
Hazard Operability studies enable a multi-disciplinary team to identify and eliminate or reduce construction, operating safety, reliability and maintenance issues at the design stage - when it is far more cost effective and simple to fix. Once things are set in metal and concrete it’s too late and embedded safety risks, malfunctions and ongoing problems raise long-term duty-of-care issues that are now part of the Person-in-Charge as well as the designers and manufacturers duties. Hazard Operability studies are a wise cost effective investment. For organisations planning to upgrade or introduce new technologies, and for R &D organisations whose novel technologies may encounter resistance, a Hazop Study can clear the path for successful change.
Emerging Hazard Research Programs
Regulations and restrictions are announced about thirty years after the weight of evidence-of-harm has become an unavoidable matter of public and legal activity. For many people, it’s all too late. We don’t have to keep repeating the asbestos and tobacco experiences. Unlike any other time in human history knowledge is now doubling every five years. Exciting new materials, technology, processes, products and entirely new industries can be expected which are often widely embraced before the supposedly unforeseen diseases of occupation, injury and claims for damages emerge.
As new materials and technologies emerge we stay in touch with the research into what’s already known on the public record and keep our clients informed enabling them to manage uncertainty and adopt practical prudent avoidance measures.
Ergonomic Design and Functional Work Systems
We are able to assess and recommend the optimal use of space, equipment, materials and task and sequence layout for safety and productivity that your staff need to be effective. We are able to assess everything from office work spaces, to machinery shops, distribution warehouses and their associated traffic management issues through to laboratories.
Expert Opinion
When there is disagreement and disputation it is important to be able to call upon independent expert assistance and advice to guide and mediate a resolution that works. If the matter is already lodged and proceeding in the legal system we can assist there too with our expert opinion.
Incident Investigation, corrective and preventive actions
The first consideration of safety professionals is to ensure that people know what to do in responding to incidents in the workplace so that the injured are cared for and nobody else gets hurt. Thereafter it’s about working out what has happened, taking into account the possible contributing factors, being considerate, objective and thorough in gathering the facts and focusing on what needs to be done to prevent a recurrence.
Best Practice Safety Policy, Procedures, Checklists, Registers, Tools
It is often the case that organisations need professional OHSE assistance in particular areas and we have the capacity to focus on those with you to produce the specific programs and policy, procedures and tools to assist implement the actions and lock in the desired improvement in hazard management that the organisation now needs.
Records Management and Document and Data Control Systems
Establishing and maintaining access to OHS Records is critically important to keep track of what has been done and what needs to be done. Without a reliable records system there is often no ability to demonstrate due diligence and compliance activity.
Document control is similarly crucial to ensure the processes and tools your staff are using are relevant and current. If they are out of date or technically obsolete staff will soon realise they are just wasting their time and your investment in getting it right withers away
OHS Roles and Responsibilities
With appropriate and clearly defined roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, linked to training programs and framed as positive performance measures focused on critically important actions that will make a difference it is possible to make steady improvements in OHS outcomes, without overly burdening your staff.
Claims and Rehabilitation Management Strategy
When working people are injured early interventions to ensure the provision of good quality, timely treatment and integrated rehabilitation services agreements demonstrate that we all value good health and wellbeing and want to enjoy life and working in the organisation to the full again.
Emergency Control Organisation
Every workplace has to be able to respond to a range of possible emergency situations effectively. Our associates bring practical know how in emergency response training and simplicity and clarity to organisational readiness.
